Star PLEX Canadian Light Source Synchrotron Tour
2:00-3:00pm, Saturday, March 17th
Matter worth probing, a facility worth exploring... Science is Awesome! With electrons wiggling faster than Han Solo on the Kessel Run, no space odyssey is complete without visiting the Canadian Light Source: one of the largest science projects in Canadian history.
Sign up for a tour of the CLS facility, where scientists have:
- Created a technique to turn any blood into a universal type resembling O
- Identified the double helix structure of RNA, fifty years after scientist first hypothesized it
- Developed techniques to image plants and our living world in an unprecedented way
- Designed the first synchrotron experiments aimed at making oil extraction cleaner and more efficient
The Canadian Light Source is a national research facility producing the brightest light in Canada, a million of times brighter than the sun, and is used by over 1,000 scientists from around the world every year in ground-breaking health, environmental, materials, and agricultural research.
This event is a theme-oriented activity offered as part of the 2018 "Star PLEX" Prairie Lindy EXchange.
Please RSVP ahead of this event to make sure we've arranged a tour capacity that allows everyone who is interested to attend!
